Cynthia started her career after moving to New York and pursuing a career as fashion model. Within a few months Cynthia was signed to a five-year agreement with Wihelmina Models. It led to a hugely popular book and the cover of Essence Magazine. Cynthia's cover debut was one of Essence's most well-loved covers as well as an instant favorite with the editor-in-chief at the time, Susan Taylor. Cynthia's next cover was scheduled shortly after, setting the tone for a successful career. The next step was Paris and Milan which was which was where she walked on the runways during Paris as well as Milan Fashion Week. Cynthia lived for nearly a year in the United States. After her return to the United States, her fame exploded. Her job was to work on advertisements for Maybelline Oil of Olay Macy's. Magazine editorials for Vogue, Glamour, Elle, Essence and Vanity Fair were soon to follow. Cynthia had a career highlight when she was selected over Naomi Campbell as Sandra Bernhadt's co-star in "Without You I Am Nothing".
